Following the 34-13 midweek win at Bryncoch, when tries were scored by Gareth Rees (3) Jon Phillips and Josh White, with White adding a penalty and three conversions, Porthcawl returned home to South Road and demolished the Ferry, keeping another clean sheet.

With the WRU Bowl Final this coming Sunday, the Seaweeds rotated the squad in certain positions but those who came in and started the match, did a fine job, the side racking up thirteen unanswered tries on an afternoon perfect for running Rugby. Some outstanding tackling from flanker Chris Blake allied to some fine passing and running from props Jamie Uren and Matt Cook were highlights of the match.

Flanker Jake Furness, in a rich vein of form at present, got things started by crossing for a try goaled by White for 7-nil after just a couple of minutes. He was quickly followed to the try-line by wing Jordan Fox, with White again converting before tries by wing Jack Power and Jordan Skidmore for 24-0 and the bonus point secured inside 20 minutes, signalled a very long afternoon for the visitors, with Skidmore nabbing a hat-trick of tries himself on the day.

As Porthcawl ran the ball from everywhere, Briton Ferry just had no answer and before the break further tries from centre Gareth Rees, another to get a hat- trick on the day following his same feat at Bryncoch, and Fox and Skidmore, all converted by White, brought the match to half-time at 45-nil.

With a plentiful supply of good ball, the second half showed no let-up as the home side proceeded to make hay with the sun fully shining on some glorious play. Centre Gareth Rees notched his second try followed by Skidmore with his third, both ably improved on by white’s boot and 59-0.

Scrum-half Connor Rees, back in the UK following his travels, celebrated with a try converted by White followed by Power scoring his second try, converted by Gareth Rees and 73 without reply as the non-stop attacking play increased what was a cricket score.

When Conner Rees then grabbed his brace score converted by White and namesake Gareth grabbing his third, and adding the points himself, the 87-nil score without reply simply highlighted the gulf between the two sides, with the match proving nothing other than being a good run-out for the Seaweeds and the Principality Stadium beckoning, where Pembroke will now be the opponents following Cardiff University being ousted from the competition for fielding ineligible players in the previous round.
